Design and Technologies

Unit Overview

This unit overview has been put together to encourage students to continue to build and develop their concepts, skills and processes developed in their early years for the Design and Technologies learning area.

This unit provides students with the opportunity to create a designed solution by using the materials and technologies specialisations to experience a research and design process of a production of a product, service and environment. Students will work together both individually and collaboratively to complete a final assessment task where they must present their findings and design through a visual and oral presentation whilst justifying their decisions. To ensure that students meet all requirements of the Australian Curriculum, this unit will allow them to explore their creative, innovative and imaginative ideas to achieve final designed products. This is harnessed through matriculate planning and assessing of the characteristics of a number of materials and tools. Students will learn to examine environments and make assessments and draw conclusions which will reflect through their actions, writing tasks and designs.
